The ‘Haddington Road’ cuts

The DCU Section Committee has unanimously called on members to reject the so-called Haddington Road proposals (pdf), the Government’s latest plan for public sector pay and other cuts.

The committee, meeting today, expressed dismay that the union leadership has once again advised members to sign up to pay cuts and extra working hours.

SIPTU’s national executive has recommended acceptance of the proposals, which it says ‘optimise the potential for generating savings’.

The Section Committee noted that TUI and ASTI have decided not to ballot their members on the revised proposals, since they do not represent a sufficient change from Croke Park 2, which was emphatically rejected by all teacher unions.
