DCU staff vote No to CP2

DCU SIPTU members balloted by 266 to 60 – more than four to one – to reject the recommendation of the union’s national leadership for cuts in pay and conditions planned in the so-called Croke Park 2 deal.

The DCU vote against CP2 is even stronger than the 66% No vote among public sector workers nationally, which is in stark contrast to the heavily-peddled notion that a small minority swung the decision.

Following the outcome, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions ‘committed to resisting any attempt by Government to unilaterally impose pay cuts across the public sector and reaffirmed that changes could only be brought about by way of consultation and negotiation’.
